THE
COMPUTER CLUB CONSTITUTION
The Club intends to govern all its members under the name of the club
for its smooth running. The Club declares this document as the supreme law of
the club and adopts it for the general good of its aims and objectives.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
- To
increase computer skills among the members.
- To
enable the members acquire teamwork skills.
- To
promote creativity among the club members.
- To
enhance Mwiri’s image to the outside world via the Internet.
- To
enable members acquire skills in research and presentation of ideas.
- It
could also be a leisure time activity.
ACTION PLAN
Near Future:
- Conduct
exhibitions in the Computer Centre during external school functions like
AGM, Open Day, etc.
- To
gather information on selected topics and post it on the school web site
and to other interested parties.
- To
link up with other schools within the country.
- To
be of help to other clubs in the processing of their documents.
Distant Future
- Establish
links with foreign schools and other organisations.
- To
pass on the skills acquired to younger members as the older ones leave.
- MEMBERSHIP
- The
club shall have a maximum of forty (40 ) from the whole school as long as
they fulfill the requirements set by the executive
- The
requirements shall be set by the Patron together with the Chairman and his
vice.
- The
patron shall have powers to punish any member of the club who behaves in a
manner that degrades the club. Any member who behaves in a manner that is
unbecoming shall be subjected to punishment under the existing school
rules.
2. SUBSCRIPTION
- For
term one subscription will be two thousand shillings only ( 2000 ) for
ordinary members while for
Executives two
thousand five hundred shillings only (2500)
- For
the proceeding terms, the fee will be two thousand shillings only (2000).
3. SOURCES OF
FUNDS
- Termly
subscription by full members of the club.
- Donations,
grants, and trusts.
- Fundraising
activities.
4. ELECTIONS
- All
members of the Executive shall be elected in an annual general meeting.
Nominations for the posts shall be done on the general assembly and in
each nomination at least two proposers and four people to second them.
- The
patron shall be the Returning Officer.
- Elections
shall be by show of hands or by any other suitable method as the
circumstances may warrant.
- Winning
shall be by simple majority.
- Whenever
there is tying in any elections, the Patron shall allow the voting to
continue until a simple majority is attained.
- Voting
shall always be done in the third term.
- The
following posts shall be voted for:
- Chairman
- Vice
chairman
- Secretary
- Treasurer
- External
Co-ordinator
- Internal
Co-ordinator
- Representatives
the various classes
The older executives on handing over their
files shall deserve a farewell.
5. POWER AND OBLIGATIONS
The
Chairman shall;
- Preside over and conduct the club meetings.
- Lead and guide the club according to the general principles
reflected in the aims and objectives
- Initiate the programmes of the club.
- He shall, in consultation with the Patron, dismiss a member of the
Executive who misbehaves.
Vice Chairman
He shall deputise for the chairman in his
absence and assist the chairman in his duties whenever required.
Secretary
- Shall record minutes of all the club’s meetings.
- Keep a regular register of attendance.
- Write all reports and maintain all records of the club.
Treasurer
- Shall maintain complete records and accountancy for all items of
income and expenditure of the club.
- Deposit with the school bursar and withdraw for purposes approved
by the Executives.
- Anyone in charge of releasing money will only do so if the
treasurer avails the Chairman’s signature or his vice and that of the
Patron in form of a document.
External Co-ordinator
- Shall be responsible for establishing relationships with other
schools and organisations.
- He shall organise for external activities.
Internal Co-ordinator
Shall be responsible for organising all the
club’s internal activities.
Class Representatives
- Shall assist where necessary in the smooth running of the club
affairs.
- Present all views of the members in their various classes in the
meetings.
- Do all duties assigned to them.
6.
ACTIVITIES
- Internal
exhibitions in the computer centre at least once a term.
- Regular
research activities on topics decided upon by members.
- Attending
external exhibitions when invited.
- Meetings
for the Executives once a week.
- Discussions
twice a week for various groups.
7.
AMMENDMENTS AND INTERPRETATIONS
- Amendments
shall be in the general assembly.
- The
Patron shall have final word on the amendments made.
- The
interpretation of this constitution shall be made in the general meeting.
The Patron shall have the power to interpret this constitution for others.
